Experimenting With Shots Whilst Filming

Here are a couple of video's which encounter the different shots I tested, This was a great way to make sure that I followed key things such as framing, lighting, focus etc.

It also allowed me to experiment with shots that I realised did not come out effectively how I visualised for example the blurry shot, whilst testing this out I realised it did not capture the same essences as I wanted. This was a great way for me to realise that everything I may have expected will workout in fact did not. Which is why experimenting with shots was a great way for me to see if different shots would work out for my video, if not then it allowed me to brainstorm new ideas, or in fact just change the position of the camera in order to capture an effective shot.

Last Day Of Filming

The images below are just from the process of filming the music video

On Set of Filming/ Behind the Scenes

My first day of filming was very successful to say the least, I captured a great range of close ups, mid shots and long shots. I felt Chisara did a great job of the protagonist role, portraying Lana Del Rey.

Down below is a few pictures on set of filming

           These Images were test shots

From these images, was just an example of how before I started to film I was testing the camera. I took several images to make sure the camera was in the right setting, and had the right focus. I also wanted to test out the rule of 4,  making sure the framing was well; also it was vital for me to stand behind the sun light. This allowed me to get sharp lighting which enhanced my filming, and it also meant the sunlight did not effect my lighting whilst filming.

This was one of the photo's which was taken during testing the camera
I realised my camera which I shot with enabled me to get great footage, as it enhanced the picture with its quality, which was effective especially because through my filming I have many close up shots, which came out nicely with the camera I used.

The camera I used to film is a Canon 600D 18-135mm

This image on the left shows myself and Chisara looking back at the footage to make sure it was done properly.

The image on the right shows me exploring a long shot, to make sure I was able to capture it effectively.

The image of the left, is of me checking my storyboard to make sure I am on the right path.

The image on the right, is another shot which captures me exploring another shot of Chisara.

The first day of my filming process was very effective, with a positive outlook which made the whole experience, very enjoyable and rewarding.

As you can see Chisara had a great time, making the whole experience in the cold worthwhile.

Influences During My Filming Process

On set of filming from Kayla Stewart

At the above is a powerpoint I embed on 'Slideshare' which talks about the influence's I had regarding costume and make up whilst filming.

This was an effective way to analysis the forms and conventions I used in my video which are seen in the genre of 'Indie' and overall in order to sell the image of the artist Lana Del Rey.

Additional Research Into Key Aspects of Indie Artists

Here above is a 'Prezi' I have created which highlights the different forms and conventions such as costumes within the genre of indie which are quite common. The reason I chose to look into different artists is to gain inspiration of what I can take on board from some of the artists which will be shown from how my actor is presented in my music video.

Make-up Inspirations

 Red lipstick
In order to keep my music video conventional to the artist I will using similar make-up such as the red lipstick in my video. I really like how this artist uses such subtle make-up such as the foundation and blush yet with a red lip which stands out and making her look more seductive which will draw in a male audience, and this also channels the theory of 'Male Gaze'. This also links in nicely with my video concept, the title being 'Serial Killer' signifying blood, which is associated with the colour red will be highlighted from the lipstick.

As you can see the image above is of the central character I will be using in my music video, I believe I will use this shade red, which is a bit lighter than the one which is shown in Lana Del Rey's image but still very conventional to the artist and the genre within itself, also it really complements my actors skin tone, which will look effective in the video.

Research Into Costume

Whilst conducting research in music video's I acknowledge that costume is a key aspect within music videos. Due to this having to appeal to an target audience, artist's either follow the latest trends or become trends setters, either way it is very important for the artist to appeal to a wide range audience. This made me look into additional research into my chosen artist which gave me inspiration for my music video.

Looking at Lana Del Rey's style it is very simple and vintage, which I will want to keep to meet the needs of my artist keeping it conventional, as the person I am using may not look like the artist, but is just as striking and draws you in. With this being said sticking to the style of Lana Del Rey would signify the importance of being conventional.

Lana Del Rey said style was never her forte, explaining, "It wasn't something I set out to create. Personally, I keep things pretty simple. I love making music. The rest I don't really think about."
As you can see  this outfit is quite simple, and casual which many people could relate to this as you see many young females wearing outfits like this, which shows many girl would look up to her and this would bring in audience.
This images shows how shorts, converses and white tee's are very common
Likewise other artists such as Rihanna wears similar clothing, which sets trends. Also the person I am using for my video, looks like the Rihanna which goes in hand with the style.

As you can see Chisara Duru who will be starring in my video has very similar to Lana Del Rey and Rihanna which shows she would fit in with the type of genre and style of this video, as it comes naturally to her.

These are images from a few clips from her videos, which shows her style is still quite simple
and with a mix of urban meets vintage thrill of it.

With that in mind, because my video is very sinister and creates a dark atmosphere, I will use the colour black like seen in these images to create that same effort. Also by staying true to the artist and incoprating with the denim shorts, and leather jacket will still create the effect.
