Inspiration's For Chosen Song 'Serial Killer'
Lana Del Rey - Serial Killer
My chosen song is Serial Killer by Lana Del Rey; the reason i chose this particular song out of the possible three is due to the impact it gives. As the emotion behind the words of the song will allow/ create a sense of suspense which I find this song could portray. It also creates such a peaceful aspect of it and many people could relate to this song with such lines like ''Love you just a little too much'' etc, many people could potentially been in a situation like that.
Also, reasons why I chose this song was because I really like the artist, she is well established and a raw talent, even though her voice is not required to everyones taste; it has been described as marmite you either love it or hate it. I believe it has a uniqueness, which draws me into her music; so for this very reason creating a video for this artist would essentially help come across my aim of being able to captivate an audience.

The reason I chose this video was because; at the beginning Jessie J is very neutral in the way she is delivering her lines. Then as the climax builds the concept of the emotion
behind her words is the effect i would want.
As this image shows, where the climax of the song it started to rain, whist she's delivering her lines effectively. This is what I hope to portray in my video as the emotion of this very moment is very powerful.
I like the close up which was shown in the video, as it highlights the artist which is important when selling the brand, in my video I will be showing serval close up to create a 'mystery'.
This mid shot, of the artist just sitting down captivates the video has both narrative and perfomance base, it also shows the setting which is also vital to have in a music video, I would like to have different shots such as these to show different aspects of the artist.
This shows the simplicity of the artist through the mid shot which I would like to showcase through out my video, because I feel simplicity is always best, and this also stays true to my artist.

I liked the concepts of this video as i'm doing a Lana Del Rey song I believe this video shows what kind of aspects of this artist I would like to stay true to. The black and white creates a dark sense, which I was drawn to, overall this video is an example of how I would want to portray this particular artist.
This image sets the video straight away, as the mise en scene already strikes me in as a audience, which I would want to do for my video, it also makes it seem very dark in a sense; which I hope to show through the video, as this also stays true to my artist.
I was drawn to this particular part of the video, as this creates a dreamy effect, which is quite a nice image, and having it as a close up draws you in to the artist more, which I hope to achieve.
Again the close up of the artist, is important as it is able to ''sell the artist'' and with the dreamy/smokey effect makes it seem uneasy in a way as if there's something she is hiding; which is what I want to show in my video, as through the lyrics it indicates she is hiding something.
The extreme close up of the artist is very striking, which may allow the male audience to be drawn in as she is very attractive, so it is important I stay true to the artist.

I was drawn to this video as the artist has a range of shots which were very eye catching.
The video also creates an emotion likewise the other videos I focused on,
which I will like to captivate in mine.

This extreme close up of the eyes shows the emotion, which is very strong, its also intense which I was drawn to.
I really like this close up as it does not show her eyes; focusing on the mouth and essentially the costume, which is important as the costumes set the scene as much the whole concept of the video.
This close-up is another way in showing the importance of the artist, which allows to show the performance base of the video, which is what I want in mine.
This long shot allows the audience to see the artist, also the setting which is a very nice combination as it both goes hand in hand.
Leona Lewis - Run
This video is one of the main concepts I want to achieve in my video, likewise the rest, the variations of the shots are very intriguing, overall the video is very effective.
This moment in the video shows the setting, which highlights the darkness of the video, which I want to indicate in mine, which is why I want a setting as this.
The long shot of just showing the woods and an outline of the artist, creates a thrill of it which is ultimately mysterious, and this is my main goal of achieving such shot.
The mid-shot of the artist, shows the beauty, which will attract both sexes. This is very important showing your artist in such way, as it all about the 'image' and how they sell it. It also creates an intensity element of which I really like.

A mid-paced R&B ballad, "I Miss You" is influenced by the ballads of the 1980s. Its instrumentation consists essentially of synthesizers and keyboards. The first song, “Serial Killer,” could have been a bonus track on Born To Die, all high drama, canned strings and beats that could have been on a rap song. “Ooh Baby,” is uncharacteristically funky and kind of great, and the cheeky “Summer of Sam” would have probably been better off buried deep in the interwebs, but here you have it.
Serial Killer - Is one of Lana Del Rey's unrealsed songs, it is very dark as she talks about being a "socialpath.... Because I love you just a little too much". Thsis indicates how she may be in a obessive relationship.
The song is also daunting, and you get the sense of mystery which is seen through many of her songs such as 'Summertime Sadness' 'Carmen' and so forth.
Why I Chose This Song
Despite the song being unrealised meaning it doesn't have much publicity on it, I believe it is a very good song. I like the mystery behind the lyrics, I also like how it creates a story, and if I chose this song I would want to create a quite concept base video which will allow the audience to come up with there own interpretation of the song.

She got ‘noticed’ from her cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love”, which is a fabulous song regardless of who sings it. But the song that personally made me swoon over her, is her version of ‘People help the People’. Nothing could be more symbolic of what our generation is going through on Earth. We’re finally learning that it’s not getting us anywhere being selfish and greedy. We’d get so much further as a whole, if we learn to love each other and work together.

Videography Analysis - Rihanna
In today's lesson we researched a range of videos by Madonna to see how her video styles has changed overtime. We then had to do our own research on artists that have changed over a period of time; I picked Rihanna as I believe she has gone through different era's of her career such as the 'Good girl Gone bad', to 'LOUD'.
