Kanye West - Runaway
Throughout the video of the song ‘Runaway’ it consisted of the motif art styled movements which tells a story the ballet dancers create the song to be very narrative. As through the dancing it tells a story as the body language in this situation speaks louder than words. It also consisted of the camera doing a mid shot of the artist Kanye West singing which highlighted the performance. Which showed it was a clear line between the narrative and performance; since it linked together.
Through the ballet dancers wearing black costumes which communicates to the audience mystery and also shows the importance of how their movement create an impact of the narrative of the video as it tells a story.
The overall style of this video is the artistic way of ballet dancing and with the mise en scene conveys with the story behind the video.
The image Kanye West is trying to present is the simplicity of just having the ballets dancing and himself on the piano can be more effective as it gives the audience the chance to really think which is what you have to do when looking at artwork; and this video itself is a sense a art piece. The song itself is a genre of R&B so it will appeal to an audience that enjoy this genre; also the people that are a fan of Kanye West which are people from different age, gender, ethnicity groups. And also for the people that enjoy artistic videos.
Maria and the diamonds - Primadonna
The video Primadonna; throughout this video you see Maria performing as she is seen singing to the camera. There are bits where it is narrative as she is dressing up which tells a story; some subtext behind her actions. This is a clear line between the two; also the majority of it is performance based.
The ways narrative and performance is used in the video is by Maria dressing up in different outfits makes it seem she is playing around being a "typical girl" that likes to dress up. Which makes it a fun playful narrative aspect to the video. Also from the beginning of the video of it being a projector of the song title made it seem very old fashioned movie like; which creates a story.
The overall style of the video is a playful yet old fashioned movie like video; which goes back and forth from the projector which has a fuzzy outline which indicate it being old. Its also a very fun girly video which is always a nice aspect to do.
I think the image Maria is trying to present is just a happy go lucky video but with it having an old aspect which could be vintage very's from the typical videos you see which puts an edge on it.
The type of audience I believe the video is appealing to is young girls which enjoy dressing up etc as they can relate to this video. But also just people that are a fan of pop music.
This video is very important in the marketing as its been in the top 10 charts which implies it was a huge success.
David Guetta ft. Sia - Titanium
The whole video consist of narrative of the journey of this boy that seems lost within himself. He is seen alone which shows he has no one this ballad conveys with the narrative of the story behind the song its very emotion.
The ways it shows the narrative of the story-line within the video is by the mise en scene; it first starts of with an extreme close up panning shot of boy laying on the ground with his head down. He is also surrounded by ripped up paper which could be because of his frustration; also by putting on a bright red hat could be because he is in danger as he is being chased.
The overall style of the video is based on its narrative as you don't see the actual artist in their video; which implies Sia wanted the video to tell a story rather than performing in it.
The image Sia is presents in this video is a boy that is so lost within himself he doesn't no where to go or what to do as he is being chased but he wont allow the police to get him.
The audience could vary; it could appeal to people that enjoy ballads; emotional narrative videos and also people who feel alone as they can relate to the video.
By it just being based on narrative it shows they took a risk which is good for the marketing as the audience like new stuff. Which paid off as it was number in numerous countries.
Ed Sheeran - Drunk
In the video "Drunk" by Ed Sheeran it only consists of narrative as it tells a story which you can see clearly.
The ways in which this is used is through the location etc and having flash backs to his relationship. The video starts of in the house with a close up of the wall which are pictures of him and his ex girlfriend; and the denotation of the beer can signifies the song title of him getting "drunk".
The overall style of the video is just a sob story of someone trying to get over there ex and by the flash backs indicates him remembering and by the cat also drinking with him shows how drunk he is as he is hallucinating then later on in the video it shows he was just dreaming it all.
The image Ed Sheeran is trying to show is that going through break up etc some of the ways in which people deal with it is in fact drinking and thinking back to the past.
This video could appeal to a wide audience that enjoy this type of genre also fans of Ed Sheeran; people that could relate to this video also.

Beyonce - Broken-hearted girl
The video Broken-Hearted Girl by Beyonce consist of both narrative and performance as it shows her reminiscing about her past relationships; then it also shows her singing to the camera. Within the video there is a clear line between the two as it combines together which makes it a very successful video.
The ways these are used in the video is by it being in black and white it shows she is thinking about the past; Beyonce driving to the very same spot where it shows the flash back of her relationship. Also by her wearing black could be because she is depressed; the video then goes in colour where you see she's is holding a red rose the denotation of this could be because of love.
The overall style of this video is just reminiscing of a relationship which many people would be able to relate to; the simplicity still makes the video very effective as sometimes less is more as it makes the audience think.
The image Beyonce is trying to present is if you are in a loving relationship stay in it as it shows her remembering the good times and she does not want to be the "broken hearted girl" because of it.
The kind of audience this video appeals to is women from all races and ages that have been through similar situations; also for people that are a fan of ballad songs; a fan of Beyonce and because she is an attractive woman it will also attract the male audience.
The video is very important in the marketing of the artist Beyonce as she is a worldwide successful artist; this video continued in her success.
Overall I found analysing these particular artist which are from different music genres, and styles of music was very beneficial. Doing this was an effective way for me to think about what type of music video I want to create, the genre, concept and so forth.
